What I learned from my day photography trip around Cambridge during the Summer, is that I don't like taking pictures in the bright sunshine.
The brightness of the light and the contrasting darkness of the shadows always bests me when trying to get a good exposure.
And, of course, I much prefer the immedaite mood that is associated with a more overcast, dark, sky.

The picture below was taken on the same day when a sudden downpour occured. The original picture (taken with my cheap digital camera) had far less contrast in the clouds, but I enjoy taking that and over emphasizing it. When everywhere is bright and sunny, objects (or skies) already have quite a stark contrast in the shadows which confuses me.

(all taken on 35mm SLR, all are scans of prints, so they don't look too wonderful)

winter 2006

I just found some photographs taken in February of this year, when everywhere was incredibly cold and foggy. I long for the next winter to arrive.
(as always, click the pictures for slightly larger versions)
