On June 12th, my fellow art students and myself will be opening our exhibition 'Transition' to the public. Due to absolutely diabolical administration throughout the art department at the Cambridge School of Art, the use of an external exhibition site never came to fruition, therefore we will be displaying our work in the studios of the Ruskin Gallery at the Cambridge campus of the Anglia Ruskin University. If anyone reading this happens to be in the Cambridge area during the week of June 12th - 17th, then please pay a visit, all are welcome; there will be a few of us floating around to answer questions and to make sure no one decides to get too familiar with the delicate pieces on show.

I was quite surprised when the rather ambiguous photograph I had taken of one of the parts of my piece found found it's way on to the cover of the most recent issue of the Anglia Ruskin University magazine.
A couple of weeks after our group exhibition has ended, all departments of the Cambridge School of Art (illustration, printmaking, graphics etc) will join with us for the end of year Degree Show 2006. It was decided that the staff of the art department would take charge of the Degree Show's organisation, so we students had to provide an image and some accompanying text for their use in the catalogue. This meant that I had to verbalise and contextualise my work, something I don't enjoy. In turn, that means that my embarassing artistic babble is included in a brief sentence on the inside cover of the ARU magazine. (I hate using the word 'Juxtaposition', even if it is the most appropriate word to use.)

Anyway, complete without description and artistic babble, here are some composite time-lapse images of parts of my work.

"I am a muse-ical mystical magical woman who loves the Goddess and women, a foremother of the Womanspirit movement, a teacher of Women's Mysteries, and a priestess of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. All the things I do- rituals, thealagie, classes, Tarot, writing, poetry, Womanrunes, calendar keeping, inner politics... stem from the musical ecstasies that are the soul of my craft."

last.fm

I decided to create a group on the "social music revolution" that is last.fm for the beguiling artist, Marissa Nadler. If you enjoy her music, please feel free to join up. Obviously it is currently at it's most minimal because I'm the only member, but hopefully it will grow. As there is no sort of official forum relating to Marissa, I have included one which can fill the void.

Black Cab

Ah, the joys of buying a CD because the girl on the cover is cute.
I felt like I had head something about Black Cab, and as it only cost £3, I decided it was worth a spin.

Apparently this is a concept album celebrating the Rolling Stone's free concert at Altamont Raceway Park in 1969 (which also featured The Grateful Dead).
It does have a sense of nostalgia about it (perhaps helped by the artwork), and mostly reminds me of Primal Scream or the Beta Band (rock with a beat behind it), which certainly isn't a bad thing!
