novemthree

(picture sneakily stolen from www.soundclick.com)

Wow! Thank God for myspace! This guy is wonderful!

"novemthree (with a silent ‘h’) consists of me, Pythagumus somberly blending traditional and contemporary folk sounds into what I like to call 'organic folk.' Unpretentious vocals accompany an assortment of instruments, such as: acoustic guitar, zither, flute, alto and tenor recorders, bodhran, Moroccan bongos, various bells and shakers (all played un-conventionally)."

There are a few tracks at novemthree's myspace,
and there are 16 tracks available to stream from soundclick, 8 of which are downloadable (though you'll need to sign up if you want to d/load - just an e-mail address and password, so it's no bother really!)

delphine dora

delphine dora
(picture sneakily stolen from http://www.another-record.com/delphine/)

Thanks to the music blog 'david f presents' for introducing me to the music of delphine dora.
Although it is always difficult to describe new sounds, I suppose her music could be put somewhere in the neo-folk genre; because of it's improvisation, the closest comparisons that I can find would be the recently emerged artists of the Finnish freak-folk movement, and I am even reminded of one of my favourites Christina Carter (of Charalambides and Scorces).
Delphine has kindly made her recordings available for free, so I suggest you take a listen!

Marissa Nadler live on BSR 23/09/04

(image sneakily stolen from marissanadler.com)

I downloaded Marissa Nadler's live set from BSR and fiddled it so that it is split into tracks and has the unnecessary host talk removed.
It's all at a very good sound quality, and Marissa performs at her usual beautiful standard, and there's a great Leonard Cohen cover in there too!
I thought I would be kind and share it to anyone who wants it, but I also have alterior motives - I don't recognise track 3! So if anyone knows what it is called, please do tell!

(p.s. new Marissa album in the spring!)

(I actually can't imagine that anyone will respond in any way to this post, so I will be more intrigued to see how many people download the set. I doubt casual passers through who don't know Marissa Nadler will d/load it, so I wonder how many Marissa fans will visit?)
